Day 36 - STONEHENGE!
Monday, May 30, 2011
Words cannot describe how I felt this morning. I’ve heard so many people say, “Don’t go to Stonehenge”, “It’s not worth it”, or “You’ll be Disappointed”. And if I went with any other group, they might be right. The opportunities we get on this trip are outstanding! We got to stand in the middle of freaking STONEHENGE, when everyone else had to walk the circumference a few yards out. I’m astonished at the privilege we got. It just wouldn’t have been the same if we were part of the hoards of tourists trying to cram a picture as they were rushed in line.
Our experience, or at least mine, was so magical. I felt so small but at the same time, powerful. What an incredible place.
Aside from Stonehenge, we also did a tour of Salisbury Cathedral. B-E-A-U-tiful church, terrible tour with a dull guide. The church is yet another museum. Even the prayers are done over a PA System. It all felt very commercial to me and not at all a Holy place of worship.
Going to the top was fun though
