Day 64 - Infinite Spaces

Can’t believe we got to see Jimmy Page’s house! That was pretty damn sick!
We also got to see Lord Frederick Lloyd Leighton’s house. It was quite brilliant, but I couldn’t help but feel thrown back into the Cult of Beauty Aesthetics Show at the V&A; the colours, the peacock feathers, etc. The Arab room was definitely the highlight, but I also, surprisingly, liked his bedroom. It was very simple and intimate with his small bed, Athlete Struggling with Python miniature — this was the place where he was truly himself with his internal struggles.
P.S. Loved the use of natural lighting in the stairwell… Soane, anyone?
We also got to visit the Saatchi Gallery where we were introduced to Gerard’s favourite piece: Richard Wilson’s 20:50.
It’s very powerful. You look like you’re staring into an infinite space; unending. You think it can go on forever, never realizing that it is only a few centimetres deep. Ironically, it’s much like the oil situation today. Some naive people think it will be there forever, but will be terribly shocked when those few centimetres run out. Sad truth.
The rest of the Gallery was pretty fantastic as well. I had a lot of fun in that place.
